Getting Caught

“SallyAnn! Get ya ass in ‘ere!” She screamed.

“What ma? I was doin’ my homework.” SallyAnn said.

“Did ya tell Billy to feed the chicks instead of doing it ya self?”

“Nah. He said he wanted to do it ma.” SallyAnn said trying to sound sure of her self. She wasn’t about to tell her mother that she paid him to do her chores for her tonight so she could met up with Rickie at the football field after school.

“Das not what Billy said.” Her mom said putting her hands on her hips.

“Don’t know what to tell ya ma.” SallyAnn said, “Billy said he wanted to do it so I let him.”

“An’ I suppose he also wanted to feed da cows, do the evening milkin’, and shovel the murer in the horse stalls too?” She said disbelief.

SallyAnn nodded her head and tried not to fidget. Her Mom knew. She knew. SallyAnn had to fully commit to the story or there was no way she was gonna get out of this without a whoopin.

Ma just looked at her, hands on her hips. Then her mom threw her hands up in the air and said, “Just what kind of idiot do you think I am. Just ‘cuz you got more schoolin than I did, you think I’m an idiot?”

SallyAnn felt her stomach hit the floor and her mouth fully dry up.

“In the mornin’ you’re doing all of his chores along with yours.” SallyAnn opened her mouth to complain but her mother continued, “AND Billy dun get to keep the money you paid him.

“Ma! That’s not fair.” She said stomping he foot and crossing her arms in defiance. “I gots plans with MaryKay after school tomorrow.”

“Well if you get all the chores done you can go.” Her mom said smirking. She knew damn well that kid wasn’t getting them done.

SallyAnn knew there was nothing she could say to change her mom’s mind. She couldn’t fight and win. Her mom was just as stubborn as she was.

SallyAnn let every bit of defiance she could come to fruit, turned on her heal, and stomped off toward her room.

“Don’t you slam that door young lady!” Ma said just as SallyAnn did just that. She turned to her husband and sighed, “That kid is gonna be the death of me Earl.”

Earl just snickered and said, “She is your daughter.”

It is Impossible …

It was lunch time and as always, I walked to the park and  sat on the park bench beside the old redwood tree and river that ran through town. It was the same every day and  I had become a creature of habit. Andre was probably rolling in his grave at my predictability.

Today wasn’t much different as I sat down, unwrapped my turkey and avocado creation and took that first bit. It was then a voice behind me caught my attention. It was a voice that was so very familiar, but it couldn’t possibly below to him.

I couldn’t bring myself to turn around and face that disappointment, but what if it was?

“It couldn’t be.” I told myself. I moved here three years ago after the accident had taken his life.

The smoothness of that voice though… I could feel myself turning around, but then caught myself. No. It wasn’t possible. I saw the line go flat. I watched the doctors wheel him off after his body had gone ridged and cold.

Even now I could remember when we stood in the shadow of the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg as he whispered in my ear, “Snowflake, you can’t deny the artist vookmanship of the castle.”

“No, I can not. Though, it just isn’t my taste.” I said.

His words and heat still sent a shiver down my spine. I was so cold that winter, but having him  there with me … I sighed and returned to eating my sandwich.

A tall looming shadow fell across me, and said “You know mi zweet, you always were beautiful with your mouth full.”

I swallowed hard and was just about to spit some retort, but then my eyes met his and my heart stopped. I went completely numb. I just stared at the man before me.

Then he smiled in the way only I ever saw when we were alone.

“Andre?!” I said barely above a whisper.

The Farewell Kiss Under the Sky

The Farewell Kiss Under the Sky

We were sitting on the hood of his car listening to the sound of the waves crash. It was a lovely evening where for once there wasn’t any fog obstructing the night sky. Luckily this far out from the city the stars were endless. The warmth of his arm around me made butterflies spring into flight in my stomach.

It had been awhile since either of us had said anything and when the alarm on my phone went off telling me that if I didn’t leave in the next 10 minutes I was going to be grounded for life for breaking curfew, we both jumped.

“Sorry about that.” I said my cheeks red in embarrassment.

“Hey, don’t want you to get in trouble this close to prom.” He said as we scooted off the hood.

He took my hand and walked me back to where my car was parked a row back. What was it about him that just the simple circling of his thumb on the back of my hand made me weak in the knees?

Before I knew it, he was opening the car door for me and I turned to give him a hug and realized he was so close that I could feel his breath on my lips.

“So …” he said nervously, “I’ll see you at school tomorrow?”

“I’ll be there.” I breathed.

Then his lips were on mine, so light and careful. I threw my arms around him and pulled him closer, deepening the kiss. It was like lightning flashing through my veins. I couldn’t get enough of it. All too soon he pulled away and rested his forehead on mine.

“Damn. It’s only for the night, but …” He stepped back and continued, “I’ll see you tomorrow babe.”

“Bye.” I said smiling and sitting in the seat. He reached down and kissed me quickly one more time and gently closed the door.

Owen’s Light

Finding the Light

(pic snagged from )

Today was the day. Today was the day he was going to allow himself to be killed by his guards. He had had it. Day in and Day out of being beaten because he had followed the orders of the Council. Day in and day out of wondering if today was the day that they had poisoned his food to make him ill… again. Day in and day out of wondering when and if he would ever get out of this place. He was through. He couldn’t do it anymore. Today was the anniversary of the day he had been sentenced to this hell hole in the depths of Obsecuritan and today was the day his life ended.

He thought he would be able to wait out Jean coming to his rescue. He thought if she just knew where he was, she would have the Vernadali’s retrieve him from this hole and everything would be alright.

That’s when he heard it. The fighting down the hall. He tried to get up, but slipped and crashed back down onto the floor. There was a loud crunch against the door and then a face he hadn’t seen in years came into view.

Mickel de Sudiant.

“Owen?” He said through the bars in the door.

“Yea. It’s me.” I said hoarsely. Not hardly talking for 6 months had made my throat raw and my voice dead.

“Get up here and help me get this door open.” Mickel said with urgency.

“Mickel just let me die. I’m no use to anyone anymore.” Owen said.

“Okay fine. You sit there and die then.” He said. “But before you do. You might want to tell me what your final words will be to Jean.”

Jean. Jean had sent Mickel?

“She sent you?”

“Well of course. Why else would I be here? Not like I wouldn’t rather be on the sandy beaches of Naswald with some sexy Kursh serving me an icy cold drink. Nah… It also couldn’t have anything to do with the fact the both of you have been a life long friend and  …. well just get your ass moving.

“Jean.” I said closing my eyes and leaning my head against the wall.

“I swear Owen… if I return without you, then she will have my hide.”

“Get that blasted door open. I can’t get up and you’re going to have to carry my ass out of here.”

(This is a small piece I wrote in class from a prompt.  My new computer is up and running so I will be posting small blurbs from the various prompts and exercises we do in class. They have been incredibly fun and I look forward to sharing them with you. Some are serious pieces; Some fun and silly.  Glad to be back! )

Writing, Wall-E Tails and My Weighty Story: When Life shows you the break peddle.

Hello everyone. I know I’ve been MAJORLY MIA lately. I want to apologize.

My back blew in massive proportions and I have been OUT since. I’ve returned to work this week, but by the time I get home, I am hurting, so I take the heavier medications they gave me for my back, and well then I’m unable to really do much else. I went to the doctor and they are referring me to a pain specialist. The good news is that they do NOT believe that its spinal and that it’s muscular. They have a couple of ideas of what is the cause, but they want the specialist to take a look at it to determine for sure.

The only bit of good news is that I have lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING IT THE WAY I DID HOWEVER. DO NOT DO IT THE SAME WAY! ABORT! ABORT! To feel the instant difference in my clothes though was kind of amazing. However, since I’m having to be easy on the stomach in this process, I’m just going to keep with the easy foods and the healthy run.

Run… /lesigh. I did get signed up for Wharf to Wharf this year with my family, but depending on what happens with the specialist with my back, I may not be able to train or walk the event this year. I’m really worried about it. Now I do have until the end of July to get ready, but so much of it will depend on what happens. I’ll keep you updated as I find out.

MAN I really miss this community, and I hope to fully return once I know more.

With much love.

❤ Kim

The Five Angels Update

I’m doing a bit of a happy dance right now.

This is what I saw on Monday night.

That means that I finished the edits of the first book!

Now to get them all in the computer.

That will take me a little bit though, due to the addition of studying to my schedule.  Mom is also having back surgery on Wednesday (the day this is scheduled to post) so that will put a little extra crunch in the time frame.

Hope everyone is having a great time and I hope to catch up with everyone soon!

Yup… Blog Changes

Time is an issue:

I am still alive and kicking.

I am still writing and editing. I’ve even gotten a couple of short stories down in rough draft form.

I’m reading too. One book that I highly recommend is:

It’s part of a much larger series (Dark-Hunter), dark, twisted, and well… wonderful! It’s not for young audiences, but I highly suggest the read.

I am now working a full 8 hour day (where I was only working 6).

I’ve also really upped my workout schedule. One of my new co-workers is a very dedicated runner and since I’ve signed up for …

again, I need to get ready. I want to best my time from last year, and hopefully I’ll be able to smash it into a bunch of little pieces. I’m doing alright, but I have a long way to go. The program he gave me is intense, and aggressive, but I’m doing it, and since I have a few extra weeks, I can stretch it out a little bit. I’m still concerned about overheating as I don’t “cool down” (read sweat like a pig ) like normal people do, so I’m open to ideas on how I can help combat that. Oh! and I just got some new amazing shoes.

( Newton – Aha )

These are amazing! They are so comfortable, and I can feel a difference in my form already! Totally worth the money. Every single penny. If you are a runner, or want to get into running, try these shoes out. (No Newton isn’t paying me for my opinion.)

oh… and I’ve started the process for obtaining my Salespersons license. It’s related to my new job, and basically it entails taking 3 classes and a state mandated exam. I want to finish the classes within 3 months and get scheduled for the exam in July. Basically that means I’m having to do lots of studying and obviously that takes a lot of time.

So yes. Time is an issue.

So down to it… blog changes

I will have to cut my blog down to just one post a week, instead of my historic three (well that is until recently). If I can do more, of course, I will, but at this time I can only commit to one post a week for now.

There will still be Wall-E Tails, Author updates, and My Weighty Story. They just won’t be a every week occurrence … for now. Maybe once my classes are done, I will be able to return to my original programing. I just can’t right now.

My love to everyone, and I will see you next week!
